Be Dramatic!
Theatre can be described as "art in action." In this class, we will get directly involved in the dramatic process. Students will have a chance to learn a bit about the skills an actor needs. We will participate in theatre games in which we build teamwork, cooperation, and mutual respect, and then look at some specific skills, including vocal work, pantomime, improvisation, and short sketch acting. Theatre gives students a chance to get away from typical book learning and experience hands-on learning, all while having fun and being creative.

HELLO 6TH GRADE STUDENTS AND PARENTS:
I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but the summer is already half over, and the school supply sales have begun! If you are looking to get a head start on buying supplies for your student, here is what you will need for the 6th grade Theatre class! These are the same things that students will need for Social Studies. They may double up on everything EXCEPT the notebook and folder. Please remind your student that he/she MUST bring all of these to class EVERY day.
If you would like to help supply our classroom with some basic necessities, the following is a list of items we can always use. These may help us with classroom management, learning styles, rewards, a safe and healthy environment, or just a sense of comfort!
Thanks so much. I'm excited to meet you all!

- Something to write with - I don't care if you use a pen (blue or black ink, please) or a pencil. Whatever you prefer.
- Loose-leaf paper - for assignments or journal writing
- A Spiral Notebook - we will take notes in class, and organization is key. Spiral Notebooks help keep everything need and orderly.
- Some Type of Folder - it can be a three-ring binder, a small folder or whatever is necessary to help with organization.
- Either a box of crayons or colored pencils - whatever you prefer. We will use frequently

- Kleenex - We always seem to run out of these, especially in the spring.
- Extra pencils - Someone is bound to forget!
- Hand sanitizer - Let's keep those germs away!
- Wrapped candy - it's an easy and great motivator! :-)
- Clipboards - students like to work around the room, but it can be difficult to write without a nice support
- Posterboard - Great for showing off all our extra learning.
Thanks so much. I'm excited to meet you all!
